Youth Olympic Flame Pass By Bukit Merah Community Centre 13 Aug 2010

The flame for the inaugural Youth Olympic in Singapore passed by Bukit Merah CC along Jalan Bukit Merah, Friday, 13 August 2010, at about 13:10pm.

Radin Mas CCC Chairman, Mr Lim Huan Chiang, JP, BBM and our Bukit Merah Community Centre Chairman, Mr Wong Luck Jaen, BBM were the torch bearers. Our Adviser, Mr Sam Tan, ran along with the torch bearers.

The program was a short healthy short walk around Telok Blangah Cres. This followed by singing of National Anthem and saying of the pledge.

Class Content
Taekwondo originated in Korea. Often translated as the way of hand and foot, it is the art of kicking, punching and unarmed combat. Mental discipline and emotional equanimity are important elements of the martial art. Participants should also note that there are different schools or systems of taekwondo which operate under different rules and have their own grading examinations and competitions. There is no common system to allow automatic transfers or crossovers from one class under one system to a class under another.

Class Requirements and Remarks:
Fee exclude membership & costume fee.

Trainer
NG HWA ANN Ng Hwa Ann holds a 4th Dan in taekwondo awarded by The Singapore Taekwondo Federation and a NCAP Level 1 Full Certificate and A Level 2 Technical Certificate jointly awarded by the STF and the SSC. He is an examiner of the ST’F's grading department. He was a team manager, leading the national team for overseas competitions and various local events.

Youth Olympic Flame Torch Bearers for Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games will be passing by Henderson Road, Jalan Bukit Merah and Bukit Merah Central on 13 August 2010 between 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

Children’s Art (Sep 2010)

Class Content
The course gives children not only an early start in the learning of colours, shapes and lines but also the opportunity to socialise with their peers. Besides drawing and colouring, they are encouraged to talk about their daily life experiences to help them generate more ideas for their drawings.

Class Requirements and Remarks:
For K1 to Pr6 children only. Participants need to bring their own material: oil pastels, China market, water colours, paint brushes, palette, drawing block No. 80, a small container for water, hand towel, colour paper, white glue and small scissor. Parents and Guardian are not allowed to sit in the class during lesson time.

Trainer
TANG HIANG CHOO A hobbycraft trainer with the PA for many years, Tang Hiang Choo specialises in dough figurines, paper cutting, Chinese knots and paper flower making. She has been invited to exhibit and teach her skills by organisations such as the Singapore Tourism Board and even by South Africa and Australia.

The course trains the child to calculate accurately and quickly using “Mental Abacus”. As speed is involved, participants will learn to concentrate better, increase their memory power and maintain mental agility.

Course Fee not inclusive Membership Fee and Material Fee. Age Group: 5 yrs old and above

YEONG CHEE WAH Yeong Chee Wah has an Engineering Diploma, majoring in Electronics, Computing and Communication. He also holds a Grade 2 Certificate for Abacus and a Grade 4 Certificate for Mental Arithmetic. He has been conducting Abacus and Mental Arithmetic courses since 2003.
